Vote Karen Reissmann For Manchester Gorton

Your Trade Union and Socialist Candidate: A Real Alternative for Working People

About TUSC

NO CUTS!

Make the bankers pay.

The Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) provides working people with a real alternative to the big three parties – each of which promise nothing but savage cuts in their election manifestos. These cuts are not inevitable, whatever the main parties tell us. If there is money for war, Trident, ID cards and the bankers, then there is money for working people. The General Election 2010 could be an important force for years to come. New Labour has promised cuts deeper than those seen under Thatcher, while The Tories and the Liberal Democrats simply argue about when to make the cuts.

We’ve already bailed out the bankers; why should we lose our jobs, take pay cuts and see our services slashed? Why should we see communities divided and people scape-goated because of a politics based on giving more to the wealthy few?

There is a choice.  TUSC has brought together political parties, campaigning activists and trade unionists under one banner to challenge the politics and policies on offer by the big parties. There are over 40 candidates standing nationally in the General Election. In Manchester and Salford there are three excellent candidates: Karen Reissmann (Gorton), David Henry: Hazel Blears Must Go! (Salford and Eccles) and Lynn Worthington (Wythenshaw and Sale East). Nahella Ashraf is standing as a TUSC candidate in Rusholme for the Manchester Local Elections 2010. Our main polices are:

  • Opposition to public spending cuts and privatisation
  • Investment in publicly-owned and controlled renewable energy
  • Repeal of the anti-trade union laws
  • Withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan
  • Opposition to the Nazi BNP, racism and all forms of discrimination
  • Bringing into democratic public ownership the major companies and banks that dominate the economy

But this is not just about the ballot box. It is about all of us building and sustaining networks of activists so we can work together to continue to fight back.
